South African Animation Film to Hit US Theatres - Ventures Africa

VENTURES AFRICA ? Triggerfish Studios has signed a deal with US film supplier Millennium Entertainment for the release of new 3D film Khumba across US theatres.

In an announcement on Thursday, Triggerfish Studios revealed that the South African animation feature film has won the backing of Millennium Entertainment ? a leading US independent film company- which will take the lead in a US theatrical release next year.

The 3D stereoscopic film features a semi-striped zebra disowned by his herd, who sets out on a quest to find his missing stripes.? Along his way, he meets other quirky characters including a wildebeest and an ostrich, and is also forced to face up to an evil leopard.

The story ? written by Anthony Silverston and Raffaella Delle Donne of Triggerfish? own team, and co-authored by the Lion King?s Jonathan Roberts ? ?is a feat of Triggerfish? renowned African story telling; and will see the South African company?s talents showcased to the world for the second time this year ? following an international release of the film the Adventures of Zambezia earlier this year.

The film promises the performances of a number of high-profile voice-actors, with Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly Place, Rio, The Perfect Game), AnnaSophia Robb (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terebithia, Soul Surfer) and Loretta Devine (Crash, I am Sam, Grey?s Anatomy) already confirmed for Khumba roles , and further star actors to be announced imminently.

Not only was the film written by a Triggerfish team, Anthony Silverston also directed the feature film, and it was produced by Triggerfish CEO and founder Stuart Forrest.

Announcing the partnership, Forrest said: ?This is another exciting step-up for Triggerfish Animation Studios as we continue to break new ground in establishing our company as Africa?s leading entertainment franchise. We are thrilled to be working with Millennium and feel our film is in good hands with a talented group behind the theatrical release.?

Millennium Entertainment CEO Bill Lee speaks highly of the new film entering Millenium?s portfolio, saying: ?Millennium Entertainment is eager to earn its stripes with the lovable ?Khumba?, which marks the company?s first venture in the world of animation? We look forward to connecting the film and its endearing cast of animals with the whole family.?
