Li Xuerui beats Minatsu Mitani to surge into Women?s Singles final at Li Ning China Open 2012

China?s impressive shuttler Li Xuerui showed a strong performance in the arena as she reached into Women?s Singles final after defeating Japan?s in-form shuttler Minatsu Mitani in semi-final encounter at Li Ning China Open 2012 in Shanghai, on Saturday, November 17.

The World Number Two Xuerui, who is also second seed in the tournament, played with tremendous control in her aggressive play and remained successful in winning against Mitani who won the French Open Super Series 2012 last month.

Xuerui was in staggering form in the first set and she did not face even a slight problem in winding it up. However, she had to work extra hard in the second game and eventually she won the match with a close margin.

On the other hand, the lower ranked Mitani could not play positive badminton in the opening set but she found a wonderful flow in the following game and troubled her rival all the way.

However, Japanese shuttler could not control her nerves in the ending points and eventually went down with a tight difference on the board.

Chinese lady put up wonderful show of top class badminton in the first game as she played with remarkable precision and managed to set up a striking lead until the one-minute break.

After the interval, Mitani tried her best to find a good flow but she could not pick the bird timely and remained struggling far behind.

In the meanwhile, Xuerui advanced with a stunning speed and she did not face any hurdle in winding up the opening game with a cracking margin of 21-8.

However, it was a different situation in the following set when Mitani geared up her speed in all areas and gave a wonderful fight until the end of opening half when both ladies were close on the board.

After the interval, both shuttlers tried their best to dominate the pace but no one could manage it and reached at the thrilling stage of 21-21.

In this crucial situation, Xuerui controlled her nerves and played with aggression which helped her to grab two consecutive points and she ended up the set with a close margin of 23-21.

Xuerui emerged as the winner in this interesting semi-final clash in straight sets with a thrilling 21-8 and 23-21 score on the board.
